What's in our hospital bags!

Since we're officially on the home stretch (hello 37th week!) we have organised and packed all 3 of our hospital bags. Since we're going through the birth centre to deliver our little one, we're not required to pack half as much as most people. All we were recommended to bring for the baby was 1 going home outfit and 1 blanket, that's it! Our midwives are very easy going and will be happy to send us home just a few hours after birth if we are doing well, so there's no need to pack like we're moving in. Here's what we've decided to pack for our mother, partner and baby hospital bags!

Mother's hospital bag:
  • Comfortable button down pajamas for post birth
  • Going home outfit (nursing tank, sweater and yoga pants)
  • Bikini for possible water birth
  • Socks
  • Multiple pairs of underwear
  • Maternity pads
  • Nipple cream
  • Disposable nursing pads
  • Nipple shields
  • Medications (for my under active thyroid and iron deficiency)
  • Bag of toiletries
  • Cue cards to motivate me
  • x4 bottles of Gatorade to keep me hydrated and energised
  • A bag of hard candy
  • x6 yoghurt bars to snack on
  • My pillow
  • Fisheye camera and Canon digital SLR camera
  • iPad and iPad charger to use pregnancy apps, calming music, etc
Partner's hospital bag:
  • Going home outfit (cardigan, jeans and a shirt)
  • Pajamas
  • Old shorts for possible water birth
  • Socks
  • Multiple pairs of underwear
  • Toiletries
  • Insulin (Kody has type 1 diabetes)
  • Baby book to fill in
  • 2 bottles of sugar free drink
  • x6 yoghurt bars to snack on
  • A bag of lollies in case of low blood sugar
  • A container of left over spaghetti that we will make just before we go to the birth centre
  • Phone and phone charger to update loved ones
  • Loose change for vending machines
Baby's hospital bag:
  • Going home outfit in newborn and 0-3 month for both genders
  • 1 singlet, 1 pair of socks and 1 pair of mittens to complete baby's outfit
  • 1 waffle wrap blanket
  • 1 fluffy blanket
  • Baby wipes (this is not necessary for us to bring as the birth centre provides this, but we're packing it just in case)
  • Newborn nappies (again- not necessary for us to bring, but we are anyway)
  • A cute 'baby's hospital bracelet' box
  •  1 Medela bottle with a Calma teat, just in case baby needs formula
